Its established, dedicated community is probably the driving factor here, and it's impressive that these figures can compete with the likes of Doom Eternal and its much more recognizable name. This news will come as a surprise to many, considering the fact that Mount & Blade has always been a niche title.

Further tweets pointed out that it quickly became " the 5th most played game on Steam within 6 hours of its release in Early Access, at 160,000 concurrent players and preceded only by such games as CS:GO, Dota 2, PUBG and GTA V." Bannerlord didn't stop there, however, as it soon moved past the ever-popular GTA V and even stretched beyond PUBG before settling back into 4th place. Taken together, these numbers make this " the biggest launch on Steam in 2020."īannerlord's concurrent player total has actually gone up since then, breaking into the top five most played games on Steam. There's also been a largely positive reception to Bannerlord so far, with over 1250 reviews on Steam and 88 percent of them being positive. This means it almost immediately overtook Doom Eternal, which hit a little over 100,000 concurrent players during its launch week. In just 100 minutes after launch, the game had 100,000 concurrent players - and it only took 3 hours to reach 145,000 of them.
#MOUNT BLADE 2 COOP SERIES#
The official Mount & Blade Twitter account has highlighted the breakout success of Bannerlord in a series of tweets. Related: Mount & Blade 2 Trailer Brings Medieval Warfare To Life In spite of its comparatively low profile, the game already has some shockingly big numbers to share. The sequel has now been in development for more than 8 years, and a playable early access version of Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord only just arrived on Steam. However, Mount & Blade significantly improved over the years thanks to a diehard modding community and lauded standalone expansions, becoming a cult classic in the process. The game had uniquely intense and complex gameplay, but it wasn't up to par in most other areas and didn't achieve widespread popularity. Mount & Blade first appeared on the gaming scene in 2008 as a medieval RPG with a number of innovative ideas. As Bethesda revealed last week, Doom Eternal had the series' best day-one sales and quickly became one of Steam's biggest releases in 2020. so i don't see this happening as mod.Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord just launched into early access on Steam, and the game has already surpassed Doom Eternal's concurrent player total. So mp on a campaign time have to be constant moving and can't be slowed or fasten which is like writing the game again. which would be really huge and you have to come up with a concept how you handle someone is fighting for 5-15 mins and another one is just moving from a to b during that time. If you really mean mp campaign by having each player have his party on the map you have to rewrite kinda the whole game mechanics which handles map, daily triggers and so on.

If it will come out decent don't forget a donation button somewhere.Įdit 2: some more thoughts :btw do you mean by coop fighting with a friend in your party as hero or as companion with his own party, which ends in a huge different scope for the project.
#MOUNT BLADE 2 COOP CODE#
I must say i'm a huge fan of the basic game concept and it has so huge potential but i will not invest my personal time/money to help them out to code something that is so obvious requested.īut i wish you good luck and it will be for sure appreciated.
#MOUNT BLADE 2 COOP MOD#
I must say i really like the approach to make it so moddable but that's not an easy mod to get it right and i don't think it should last on the shoulders of the playerbase. As programmer myself i refuse to invest time in personally for me disappointing outcome of m&b2. I'm kinda 50/50 on that, why players have to code the most requested feature but without i guess it will not happen.
